Happy Birthday Lisa!

How odd is it that our best friends have birthdays back-to-back? Somewhere along the line we have figured out that they shared the Nursery at St. Margarets in Hammond, IN.

Anyways, hope you had a GREAT birthday in Colorado Lisa!

(Yes, that is an OLD picture! It was at Emily's 1st Birthday party. I figured that since Emily has a birthday this week, it would be an appropriate picture! Also, the picture makes Lisa look 7 years younger!!)

The Day is Done...

What a tired crew we all are tonight!
Em and I went back outside today at 3:15. We were out there until 4 when I got Adam up from his nap and he joined us outside. I shoveled just enough of the lower driveway so Paul could get the Grand Prix in the driveway when he arrived home from work. Some neighborhood friends came over to play. I noticed that the house across the street wasn't shoveled and the dad was still at work and there was no way he'd get his car into the driveway. So, I headed over there and the next thing I know, two other neighbors (not the ones that lived there) helped me clear that driveway and the one next to it. Then, we headed down the street to clear a LONG driveway for a family that was at their grandpa's funeral today. At that house, there was 10 of us shoveling (yes, it was that long!). We then proceeded to clear 3 more driveways. Man, momma is sure sore and tired tonight! While we were doing that, our neighbor McKenzie was watching the kids at our house. She enjoyed all the kids but especially Adam!
On my way back up the street, I saw that Paul was home. He changed his clothes and joined us outside. We finally came in for grilled cheese and tomato soup at 7!
The official total in Kirkwood was 9.5. I think we had slightly more than that, but didn't measure. I think all the Kreidlers will sleep well tonight!
One last thought about our Brownell Avenue neighbors. While I was clearing the first driveway after I cleared ours, a neighbor (whose brother was the first police officer shot and killed at the Kirkwood City Hall a few weeks ago) stopped by to talk to me on her way out. She said she'd been busy since her brother was killed and wanted to thank me for contributing to the food and beverages that our street provided after her brother was killed. She said that the neighbors on Brownell are the best. (In addition to the food provided, our group donated a large sum to a local association that supports families of fallen officers.) As evidenced by the large amount of neighbors out clearing each others driveways off, I'd have to agree with her! The sense of community here in Glendale is awesome!

Snow pictures!

We spend 1 1/2 hours outside this morning. I think the kids are POOPED! Em and I might venture back out in a while to try and shovel enough of the driveway (especially at the street) so Paul can pull our black car into the driveway when he gets home. The snow is deep but really light. It is definately not snowman weather! Maybe tomorrow when it warms up a bit.

Getting ready to go out!
Wow! It's windy out here!!

ANOTHER snow day!

We knew St. Louis was going to get yet another snow storm starting shortly before school and ending around dismissal. Well, the Kirkwood School District must have decided that it was too risky because at 5:35 we received the automated phone call that school is cancelled for the 3rd time this winter! People say that Kirkwood hardly ever cancels school. Maybe the Kreidlers are a good or bad (depending on how you look at it) luck charm! Emily will now have to go to school on March 10th (previously a day off for teachers to do records) and May 30th. It appears that KSD is trying to avoid pushing the school calendar into June.

The snow is BEAUTIFUL, but we were pretty spoiled by the 77 degrees on Sunday. I think we're all pretty tired of the cold and snow.

I'll try to post later. I told Emily we'd go outside after thesnow gets a little thicker on the ground. I need to plan it just right so it'll be time for lunch and Adam's nap after we get back inside!

The Turner Tribe

We had a nice visit with the Turner Tribe yesterday. Emily had been missing Springfield a bit this week, so they came at just the right time. Emily, as always, enjoys playing with them, and Adam really seemed to enjoy Brittany. We met up for lunch, played at the St. Louis carosuel and playground at Faust Park, headed down to Lone Elk Park to see the buffalo and the elk, and headed home.

Time to Play the Fued!

BT and I went to see the Blues play the Sharks tonight. The Blues got smoked, but we had a great time. Brian got the picture above of the 1 fight in the game - it wasn't that great, but it was about the most excitement there was all night.
