Ice-mageddon!

And so, it starts. Not sure if we'll be able to update via our blog or FB if the worse case senerio happens and we lose power for a few days. Our phone will also be out, but we have fully gassed cars and are prepared to go sit in them occassionally to recharge our cell phones, iPods and the like!

Here's a picture from just a few minutes ago.

These are the power and cable lines that feed into our house. Because we live in an older neighborhood, all the powerlines are above the ground so there's a good chance we'll lose power. The ice you see on our lines is just from the rain we had today. Tomorrow is when "Phase Two" hits, which is supposed to be the really bad weather -massive amounts of ice and snow.

Be Safe Everyone!

Five For Friday

I called it "Four Things Friday" last week, but I'm changing it up and calling my Friday posts "Five For Friday" - reminds me of Five for Fighting, one of my favorite bands from the last year.

Anyways, hold on because HERE. WE. GO! Five For Friday:

1. Emily had 5th grade trivia night at school yesterday. She wore a dress of Aunt Lisa's. Emily looked MUCH older than her 10 years. Their table's theme - Prom - meant that the girls were dressed to the 9s!

2. Adam just told me that someone on Bus 5 found a pair of undies on the bus floor that had SKID marks. GROSS!!! When asked if they were his undies, his reaction "NO! They were not my underwear. Do you think I'm joking?"

3. I have a confession. Paul had a meeting in North County at 9, so after he took Emily to band at 7:10, he came back home and took Adam to the bus stop. After he left for his meeting, I crawled back into bed, jammies and all. I read a book and took a nap. Well, I tried to nap. Chester (the dog next door), along with the 3 dogs two houses over, conspired to keep me awake with their incessant barking.

Anyway, I digress. I finally got back out of bed at 11:40, took a shower, and was presentable by the time Adam came home at 12:10.

I talked about crawling back into bed since the kids started school in August. This is the FIRST time I actually did just that. I chose today because I'm incredibly sore from yesterday's run and personal training session.

Well guess what? As it turns out, I didn't get a good nap and wished I had just sucked it up and went to the gym. Bah! Oh well. Lesson learned. Next time I will go to the gym since it's obvious that I can't get a good nap at my own house.

4. I'm planning on running 3 Half Marathons this Spring. The first, the Abe Lincoln Memorial Half Marathon, is the race where I'm going to try to get my personal record for the half (2:17:24). Paul is going to pace me at that race. The other two races I'm planning on running with some friends. The 3rd half, I'm planning on running with my college roommate Lisa. I can't wait!

5. My mom is coming in 12 days for a visit. Fun times ahead!

Prom and Cake Pops!

Today is Emily's last Trivia Night at North Glendale. Her table's theme is "Prom". She has a swanky dress to wear tonight, thanks to Aunt Lisa.

Per tradition, every girl brings a snack to share with her table on Trivia Night. Tonight, Emily is bringing Cake Pops.

In progress:

Finished!

More later when I post pictures of what my almost 11 year looked like on Prom Night!

I had some help yesterday shoveling slushy snow off the back driveway!

Bear vs. Packers - Friendly Bets

We have wonderful neighbors. For instance - Chris and Kelli - great people EXCEPT for the fact they are Cheeseheads! (Ironically, both grew up less than 30 miles from Green Lake, Wisconsin - our favorite vacation spot.)

Kelli and Paul both like to bake and made a friendly wager on Sunday's game. The bet - the WINNER would have to make a "Bakerella" treat for the loser to cheer he or she up! (don't know who Bakerella is? Here's a link: http://www.bakerella.com/category/pops-bites/cake-pops/)

Well, we all know the score the of game. Here's proof that Kelli fulfilled her end of the bet. Enjoy the pictures because we sure enjoyed the dessert! The only complaint - the color. But we dealt. Thanks, Kelli!

Yur Buds

Since the 10/10/10 Chicago Marathon, I've discovered that lots of peeps blog about RUNNING! I bookmarked quite a few and have been reading them weekly, if not daily.

I've been reading one blog - www.skinnyrunner.com - since the Chicago. I'm not even sure how I ran across it because I don't think she ran Chicago. will have to go back and look at her October posts and see if she did run Chicago 10/10/10. I enjoy her blogging, especially since she blogs daily! Nothing more disappointing than sitting down to read blogs and find that no one updated, except Skinny Runner never fails me!

Anyhoo...

today her blog included a Yur Bud giveaway. Paul uses these and I've kicked around the idea of getting a pair, that is if I don't win a pair from Skinny Runner!

Here's Skinny Runner's blog post from today about her running times and Yur Buds! http://skinnyrunner.com/2011/01/24/its-all-about-me/

Ready, GO!

Time to start another week, but first, what were the Kreidlers doing 10 years ago today?

Well...

Amy was working part-time as an attorney for the Legal Advocacy Service, which was part of the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission.

Paul was budgeting as "Supreme Commander of the Universe" as the Budget Director at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.

Adam didn't yet exist!

And Emily? She was cooking up a storm!

Go Bears!!

Our Papa who art a Bear, Hallowed be thy fame, thy championship come, Thy play be run, at home as it is away, give us this day our Sunday win, and forgive us our turnovers, Though we pounce on those who turnover against us, And lead us not into fourth and long, but deliver us from Rodgers. In the name of Ditka, Butkus and Holy Payton. As it was in 1985, so shall it be in 2011, reign without end. Da Bears

4 Things Friday

In an effort to blog more, I'm going to do a 4 things Friday every week. This week, my 4 things are pretty random.

1. My husband loves sandwiches! Therefore, we're going to Hanneke's for lunch today. YUM! Glad I put in the extra time this am at the gym.

2. I am blessed with two wonderful kids, no matter what I may tell you! Yes, sometimes they drive me crazy and push me to the brink of insanity, but realistically, they are both great kids. Paul and I are so lucky.

3. A random picture that I like. I like the action in this picture! I think a trip to the Indiana Dunes next summer is in order. Hopefully we'll be able to fit it into our rapidly filling up schedule!

4. I'm already thinking about our summer vacation to Green Lake, Wisconsin. Can't wait to go! I only have 6 months to wait!

Can't wait to have drinks with Grandpa Floyd!

Snow Day, Part III!

Last set of pictures = from our Missouri years!

Fall 2007-current

This was at our house in Springfield. Our neighbor, Robert, did this to surprise us as we came up to check on the house before closing on it!

LAST PICTURE: From today!

HAPPY SNOW DAY, ALL!
