Power Failure!

Our neighborhood sounded like a war zone at 10:00 tonight when a piece of power equipment exploded. Unfortunately, we were the only street without power. Fortunately, we had beer. All the neighbors were out and we had an impromptu block party while the power company did their work.
Robert and I did a good job supervising their work.

Toothless Wonder

The second front tooth came out much quicker than the first. Emily came home from dance class and Adam ran to give her a hug. He bumped her mouth with his head, and presto - out comes the second tooth.

Finally!

Finally. Emily lost a front tooth today. This tooth has been bugging Mom and Dad for over 2 weeks now as it dangled and twisted. Despite our constant encouragement, she just wouldn't pull it out.

At the pool today, Em was eating skittles and bit a really hard one. She was happily surprised to spit out a tooth instead.

So, she now looks like Nanny McPhee, and we're encouraging her to get the other one (also very loose and dangling) out as well.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of first grade.

Emily is excited for the summer off, but says she will miss her teacher. First grade was an adjustment as the kids transitioned from the more playful environment of Kindergarten to the more business-like first grade. There were times, at first, when Emily seemed not to like all of the work, gym class, etc., but she has grown into a good student.

Emily will be attending a summer camp at the same place where she went to preschool, and where Adam goes now. I know she's excited about all the different activities, especially for the days when the school-age kids get to read books and play with the smaller kids. Amy and I are happy that we have only one morning and afternoon stop to make.

Bloomington, Indiana

We had a nice weekend in Bloomington, Indiana for Conrad Banach's baptism. The kids enjoyed the Wonderlab, but could have done without Mom and Dad reminiscing through a tour of the alma mater.
